A Debt Arrangement Scheme or DAS for short is a debt tool set-up by Scottish Government to helps its citizens who are struggling with debt. Debts are paid through a Debt Payment Program or DPP and this option is fast becoming one of the most popular options in Scotland due to its flexibility as well as a whole range of features.
Once a DAS/DPP is accepted all creditors included will freeze interest and charges for the duration of the agreement. Creditors will also not take any legal action while payments are maintained. Although DAS has some of the advantages typically seen with Sequestration and Protected Trust Deeds, this option is less formal. Under certain conditions payment holidays are even allowed.
DAS fees are currently fixed at 10% of what you pay. This means you will never pay more than 10% of the total debt you owe and pay back through the plan.
